AT&T, verizon, eBay, microsoft are among the top 10 US Online display advertisers. Online advertising is a major source of revenue for many companies & it is taking off in a big way. AT&T & verizon, two large US telcos bought majority of the ads. AT&T bought 85 billion ads in the last year. It is surprising to see Microsoft in the top 10 list. In the top 10 list, 3 are US telcos. This shows the tremondous growth of the Telecom industry.

With Apple stealing the Mobile App store market share, the 12 leading mobile operators across the world have come together to form an App store. The combined operators will have more than 2 billion subscribers & this is huge market for the app store. Apple revolutionized the mobile app stores for its iPhone. The mobile world congress in Barcelona will see the announcement about the App store. What is surprising is the inclusion of ATT in the app store which provides iPhone service in US. Google & Blackberry have their own app stores.

Verizon & ATT have been engaged in an advertising war. First Verizon came out with the video advt showing its 3G network is better than the AT&T’s. The advt showed the Blue & Red graphical representation of respective 3G networks. AT&T then sued Verizon over the advt. AT&T has also come out with an advt showing its 3G network, availability of Apps. AT&T has taken the advt to concentrate on iphone rather than the overall network. Also it looks like the advt was put in haste without the much research. iphone is available on AT&T exclusively in the US. Recently Verizon has started selling Droid based on Android.
